Sources for MONITOR software
This is the situation as at 14 April 2008
The original DOS version of MONITOR was written by James Gibbs
and Jim Hines. A new Windows-based version (v.10) was being
developed by James Gibbs and Pablo Ramirez de Arellano but is not
now available. In the meantime, a version which works in windows
(v.6.2) is available from the
Clearinghouse for Ecology Software.
There is an online version of MONITOR (version 7) here,
and this appears to work with all platforms and most browsers,
provided java scripts are enabled. The hard grind is carried
out by the server (at Patuxent), so this will not work unless you
have a reliable internet connection - though it does not need to
be broadband. The material in the Lab Guide applies to the on-line version,
though the screen shots look different.
If you have difficulty accessing the above versions, click
here to download a version of MONITOR4.EXE which has been
tweaked to work with Windows (162 KB).
The Users Manual for the old version of MONITOR by James Gibbs in .pdf format (457KB) is here.
